Tell Hicks Art
Tell Hicks traveled the world, studying and painting reptiles and other wildlife. He won several international awards for his artwork.
After breaking his neck, in October of 2018, he was left paralyzed from the upper chest down. Despite having very limited use of his arms and hands, he was determined to paint again, and the ability to continue his passion remained one of his main goals during his hospital rehabilitation.
With this determination, and with the help from his family, physiotherapists and friends, he started to produce his unique, and highly detailed paintings again.
Sadly, on December 12th, 2025, Tell Hicks passed away. He was constantly in pain and fighting off severe infections that finally took him from us.
We are glad that his pain is now over. We will do our very best to keep his prints available until they are out of print.
The one project he didn’t quite finish was the book of his entire life’s work. Bob Ashley spoke with Tell the day before he passed away
and promised him that it would be finished as soon as possible.
With the help of his friends and sons, we, his publisher ECO, are committed to completing this important volume by Mid-Year 2026.
Proceeds from the book will establish a new young wildlife artist grant fund in Tell’s name.
